It's been a very long time since I've listened to either instrumental music or metal for that matter. However, I came across a particularly stunning piece of guitar porn and had to investigate the player.

And found...

The above video. What to make of that? Two 8-string guitar players and a drummer. So a 3-piece which is actually a 5-piece? Or vice versa. That has "buy" written all over it.

CAFO is from their first (self-titled) album, which was recorded with programmed drums before the band in the video above was put together. With that in mind (need real drums!), I picked up their sophomore effort Weightless and have been listening to it incessantly. Polyrhythmic and heavy, but with a large dose of ambient and jazzy vibe thrown in as well. It may just be the perfect coding music. The aggression also helps when your WordPress installation gets corrupted and you have to reconstruct your blog from scratch.

The Better Half should be extra happy that I no longer own a drum kit this week.
